Fairwinds Farm is a true family partnership: Pete and Cathy Karonis run it with their son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Audree Rackley, who joined in 2020. Pete started the farm in Topsham after retiring from the Marine Corps in 1995, and Cathy ran her own farm before the two operations merged. Today they work five greenhouses and five acres at the Topsham home farm plus roughly 85 acres of fruit and vegetables, sixteen acres of strawberries, and eight more greenhouses along the Kennebec River and Merrymeeting Bay in Bowdoinham.

Strawberry season is the main event, with U-Pick typically running mid-June through mid-July and raspberries and blueberries following. You can also find their seedlings and produce at five weekly farmers' markets from May through October, two winter markets, and their Topsham farmstand. They farm with Integrated Pest Management and are licensed with the Maine Board of Pesticide Control.
