Mere Point Oyster Company was formed in 2015 by Doug and Dan in Brunswick; Doug's family has been on Mere Point for nearly 90 years, and Dan served as Brunswick's Marine Warden and created the Maine Shellfish Warden Association. The next generation is already aboard, with Tyler managing sales and Cam finishing school before returning as Operations Manager.
Their farms sit in Maquoit and Mere Point Bays, and growth has been quick: 10,000 oysters the first year, 250,000 by 2017. They harvest by hand year-round, source seed from Muscongus Bay Aquaculture and Mook Sea Farm, and sell through farmers markets and restaurants.
