Muscongus Bay Oysters is the retail face of Muscongus Bay Aquaculture, whose hatchery on the Medomak River in Bremen has produced high-quality, fast-growing, disease-resistant oyster seed for growers up and down the East Coast for over 20 years.
The company also owns and operates Dodge Cove Marine Farm, Maine's oldest oyster farm, 30 acres on the Damariscotta River where oysters are grown in suspended culture and finished on the bottom south of Hog Island. The result is a thick-shelled, deep-cupped oyster with a light citrus flavor, restrained brine, and a sweet, clean finish.
