North Star Orchards sits at the foot of the western Maine mountains in Madison, overlooking the Kennebec River, where two generations of the Dimock family harvest around 20,000 bushels of apples a season using Integrated Crop Management to keep the growing ecologically sound.
Pick-your-own runs late August through mid-October with wagon rides on autumn weekends and a picnic area with mountain views. The farm has its own cider mill, farm kitchen, and store stocked with their preserves, cider, wholesale jams, Maine specialty foods, and gifts, and their apple gift boxes ship nationwide.
