Shaw Farms in South Paris has been in the family since 1928, when Harold Shaw, Sr. bought the first of the four small farms that make up the place. Harold Jr. ran the dairy, his children Stephen, Jim, David, and Juanita grew up working the land, and the fields still open onto a panoramic view of the White Mountains and Mount Washington.
Today the farm raises 100% grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken, with eggs fresh daily from hens on grass. They rotate their grazing, give animals room and clean water, skip non-therapeutic hormones and antibiotics, and keep synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to a minimum.
