About the Farm

Nestled in the north country of New Hampshire, Slopeside Farm began as the dream of two outdoor enthusiasts whose simple homestead blossomed into a thriving certified organic produce operation. Sue serves as the heart of the farm, taking on roles as farmer, planner, harvester, veggie washer, marketing department, delivery service, and cook, while Mike brings his data science expertise to support all farm machinery tasks, electronics maintenance, and data collection systems. Their team is rounded out by Cinder, their friendly farm greeter dog, Mel the cat who handles pest management duties, and their industrious honey bees alongside native pollinators who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

At the foundation of Slopeside Farm lies a deep commitment to growing healthy food in healthy soil. The farm follows strict organic practices, enriching their earth with compost, organic matter, and cover crops to build life and body in the soil. They cultivate certified organic vegetables and herbs using thoughtful principles of companion planting, intercropping, and integrated pest management, creating a system that works in harmony with nature rather than against it.

Slopeside Farm's mission extends far beyond simple food production to encompass community nourishment and environmental stewardship. They manage a biodiverse ecosystem that supports both their honey bee hives and native pollinators through carefully cultivated annual and perennial flowers, herbs, vegetables, shrubs, and trees that provide nectar and pollen throughout the growing season. The farm feeds their community through weekly CSA shares and partnerships with local restaurants in Lancaster, Littleton, and Gorham, ensuring that any unsold perishable food reaches those in need through the North Country Gleaners program rather than going to waste.
