Oyster farms in New Hampshire's Great Bay estuary remove real, measurable pollution just by growing. This study estimated they pull 0.61 metric tons of nitrogen out of the water each year, worth about $105,000 in avoided cleanup costs, and that number could quadruple if farming areas expanded.
