About the Farm

Chase Farms in Wells may be the deepest-rooted farm in town: Richard Chase Sr. and his son Rick are direct descendants of Edmund Littlefield, Wells' first settler, and Littlefield-Chase generations have farmed this land since the 1600s, starting when Edmund's great-grandson Samuel first tilled Merriland Ridge.

They raise their own beef and pork the old-fashioned way for the farm store, and Rick plants vegetables with modern equipment while keeping two teams of draft horses busy logging, pulling hayrides, and working the summer garden. Every potato on the place is dug with a horse-drawn digger. A greenhouse, fresh baked goods, and other local items round out the farm stand.
