Meadowfall Farm & Forage works about an acre in Parsonsfield, near Province Lake on the New Hampshire border, and gets a remarkable amount out of it. The vegetables are grown mostly no-till with intensive planting and hand tools, a broad fork and hoes doing the work of machinery, with row covers, hand-picking, and beneficial insects instead of chemical pesticides or fertilizers.
The "forage" half of the name is real: from July through October they hunt wild mushrooms, bringing home flavors no field can grow. Heritage-breed free-range chickens round it out with a rainbow of eggs.
