About the Farm

Perched on a scenic ridge in South Glastonbury, Connecticut, Walnut Ledge Farm is a chemical-free, 14-acre family farm offering breathtaking views and beautifully cultivated land. Owned and lovingly tended by Michael and Joanna Kamis and their daughters, the farm has been in their care since 2005 and operational since 2013. With deep agricultural roots and a steadfast commitment to stewardship, the Kamis family carries on the legacy of a landscape that includes blueberry bushes nearly a century old and some of the state’s largest walnut and chestnut trees.

Walnut Ledge is best known for its vibrant Pick-Your-Own blueberry fields, a summer staple for the local community. But their offerings reach far beyond fruit. With over 10,000 garlic bulbs and hundreds of pounds of garlic scapes harvested annually, the farm has become a trusted source for this flavorful crop. In recent seasons, they’ve added elderberries, honeybee hives, and small-batch chestnut and walnut harvests—all tended using strictly natural, non-synthetic practices. Every plant is nurtured without pesticides or herbicides, and the farm’s homemade sea kelp and compost teas enrich the soil while protecting biodiversity.

The Kamis family’s mission is to grow food the way nature intended: clean, honest, and rich with flavor. Though they are not certified organic—due to proximity to conventional farms—they adhere to organic principles and strive for regenerative health in both land and crop. From the pollinators they cultivate to the soil they restore, Walnut Ledge Farm is a living testament to the belief that good food starts with integrity and ends in community. Whether you’re picking berries at sunrise or savoring the sweetness of garlic grown with care, life on the ledge is as nourishing as it is beautiful.
